WinSport Ski Hill to open 1 week early

Skiers and snowboarders can get an early start to the season at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park, with sections of the park opening this weekend – one week ahead of the originally scheduled opening date.
T...he Silver and Gold carpets, located on the eastern side of the park, will open for the season, giving skiers and snowboarders an early chance to test out new equipment or get their winter legs back. Skiers and riders will also be able to get their jib on, with several rails set up on the east side of the park.
The park will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday, with Discover Park pricing in effect. The rental shop, retail shop and food court will also be open.
Combined with Mother Nature’s thick blanket, WinSport’s snowmaking has provided the perfect sneak-peek to the winter season at COP. Snowmaking began last weekend, with the guns blazing throughout the week when weather permitted. Snowmaking, which is ideal at -5C or colder, will continue as temperatures permit. The main portion of the hill is tentatively scheduled to open on Nov. 15, depending on weather.
