Winter 2012/13 Playoffs

With the playoffs just a month away here’s a quick reminder of a couple of the playoff rules.  

Playoffs

1. Players must be designated a roster player to be eligible for playoffs.
   1. Any roster player having played less than 40% of a team’s games will not be eligible for playoffs.
      1. Winter players must play 8 of the 21 regular season games.
   2. There will be NO exceptions to playoff eligibility.
   3. If a goalie is unable to attend playoff game, a replacement may be granted by the league coordinator provided there is 24 hours notice before the game begins.
2. All teams will be awarded 1 guaranteed playoff game.
3. The WHCL reserves the right to modify the playoff format at any time, provided all teams are provided the playoff schedule prior to the beginning of the playoffs.
4. ID will be required on request of WHCL officials.  If any player fails to produce their ID the game will be deemed a forfeit will for the opposing team.
5. All games must have a winner.  There will be NO ties in the playoffs.
6. If a game in the ‘Playoff Series’ ends in a tie at the end of regulation there will be a shootout to determine the winner.
7. If a game in the ‘Championship Game’ ends in a tie at the end of regulation there will be a 10 minute sudden-death overtime followed by a shootout to determine the winner.
8. If the game is still tied at the end of the 5 rounds of shooters, the shootout will continue in sudden-death.
9. No player will be permitted to shoot a second time in the shootout until all skaters have taken their turn in the shoot-out.
10. Any player in the penalty box at the conclusion of regulation time will NOT be permitted to participate in the shoot-out.
11. Each team will have 5 players participate in the shootout.

Playoff Dates

              
               All playoff games are scheduled and online.  These dates are set and can not be changed.  Teams that win their elimination games (March 17 – 21) will continue on to the round robin portion of the schedule (March 22 – 29).  The 2 top teams from the Round Robin games will play in a 1 game winner take all Championship on March 30 or 31^st.
