WHCL UPDATE - New Alberta Restrictions - September 17, 2021

WHCL teams:
The new Government of Alberta public health restrictions announced Wednesday to help bend the curve in the fight against COVID-19, will significantly impact the operation of the WinSport Hockey Canada League.
To continue operating our season, WinSport will be participating in the Government of Alberta’s Restrictions Exemption Program by requiring proof of vaccination or negative COVID test result to continue participating in the WHCL. This will be effective Monday, Sept. 20, 2021.
In addition, face coverings and physical distancing of six feet (two metres) are required in all public areas.
To comply with WinSport’s requirements, all players who enter the arena level must provide a government-issued photo ID, along with one of the following:
WinSport is working to finalize the arena entrance process and dressing room protocols. Further details will be provided.
Spectators are permitted in the concourse/seating area only, which will be at 1/3 capacity and face coverings and physical distancing required at all times. Proof of vaccination is not required at this time for spectators in these areas.
The ongoing operation of the WHCL relies on everyone’s cooperation and honest compliance with these requirements. Players are reminded that they are not to enter the facility if they are sick, have tested positive for COVID, or are otherwise required to isolate.
Please be respectful to all WinSport staff, they are doing their part to keep people safe and the league operating and there will be zero tolerance for disrespectful behaviour. We are happy to share with you that all WinSport staff, referees, and timekeepers are required to be fully vaccinated or undergo regular COVID-testing (full vaccination is required by October 26).

- Proof of vaccination* (single dose accepted between September 20 and October 25 if received 2 weeks before entering the facility; double doses required after October 25)
- Proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of entering the facility (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed). [NOTE: Those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons must provide a negative test to ensure the safety of all participants and staff. WinSport does not require proof of medical exemption.]
