May 20th Update
Hello WHCL Team Representatives, Players and Officials,
As of May 20th, 2020, we can provide our participants the following updates:
Resumption of Winter ‘19/20 Games: As a result of the Alberta Government’s reopening plan, it has become clear that the WHCL ‘19/20 season will not be able to resume play before June 15th. As a result, we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of the season.
Registration credits will be issued based on the number of guaranteed games that were missed due to COVID-19. No credits will be awarded for teams that chose to forfeit prior to March 13th. This credit can be used for registration of the Winter ‘20/21 season.
We will be contacting each team representative over the next week with the credit amount on their account. Please be patient, as there are 110 teams to contact.
Summer 2020 Season: In the event the Summer 2020 season does not start by July 15th, all team deposits will be handled as either a credit or refund* based on the team’s preference.
We understand that there is much uncertainty to the Summer ’20 season and understand that teams might no longer be interested in taking part. Summer teams now have the option to withdraw their Summer ‘20 registrations and request a deposit credit or refund*.
*Refunds will be less a $20 processing fee. Please be advised that our organization is currently processing a large volume of program and booking cancelations and therefore refunds could take some time to process.
Winter ‘20/21 Season: The Winter ‘20/21 season is scheduled to start September 8th, 2020. Our registration and the payment procedures have changed this year. We will be sending a detailed email to all returning teams during the upcoming days highlighting the new process. Deposits will be $1000 and the deadline for returning teams will be June 26th, 2020.
Any Summer teams interested in joining the winter season will get first right of refusal to open spots once we have confirmation from returning Winter teams on June 26th. A detailed email will be distributed to Summer teams during the upcoming days.
