Webster’s Dictionary defines All-Star as “including mostly or only performers who are famous or very skillful”. The WHCL was lucky enough to host 26 of these individuals on February 1st, for our 7th All-Star game. The 26 players were nominated, and chosen to represent their teams based on their desire to compete hard every night, their commitment to the fun side of the game, as well as their respect for their teammates, opponents and the WHCL officials.
The game itself was a competitive affair, where Team Molson was able to edge Team Coors 8 – 5. Although there was a 3 goal differential, the game was a close affair where the score could have gone either way. Once the dust settled, it was Jordan Jarvis of the AEROS that was named player of the game, with a 2 goal and 1 assist performance as a defenseman. Craig Malone of the Wild Beasts made 22 saves in just over 19 minutes to be named the Top Goaltender of the game.
The day also seen the WHCL name the Molson Coors Player of the Year. This year’s Player of the Year has been in the WHCL for 3 years, and has been a finalist for Player of the Year on more than one occasion. As a team rep for BOSS TATTOO BLAZE Matt Palmer has shown his commitment to the league philosophy year after year, and has enhanced the league for players on his team as well as his opponents. Matt has played in 76 WHCL games over his 3 seasons and has scored 54 goals, and has 71 assists for a total of 125 points.
