The Summer 2014 Season is underway

The season is now a couple days old, and we've rolled through a little over half of the league's first games. So far we've seen a lot of the same trends we have seen in the past. There have been shootouts, and one goal games, and as a few teams are getting their legs back under them after the mid season break we've even seen a couple high scoring blow outs. That’s recreational hockey after all; any team can win on any night depending on who’s playing.

This summer the WHCL is happy to say we have 72 teams playing across 9 divisions. The Molson Canadian Division has seen The Heroes drop the opening game of their 'Drive for 5' season to the new Crusaders that hve joined us this year. Tonight marks the first game for the Devils Brigade who needed a few recovery days after their highly successful CrossCheck Cancer tournament held here at WinSport last weekend.
